Friends’ Central Summer Camps

Tenderfoot Camp provides recreational activities specially attuned to the interests of 3 to 6 year old children. The program focuses on social development, independence, and curiosity. These programs are designed to both nurture new friendships and strengthen self-esteem. As children grow, they are encouraged by our supportive staff to broaden their experiences and see what the world around them has to offer. Camp facilitators place emphasis on cooperation among children rather than competition. Placed in coeducational groups by age, the children learn to work alongside one another in alternative learning environments, thus stimulating holistic social and intellectual growth. Trailblazer Camp is designed to accommodate the special interests of children between the ages of 7 and 12. Campers begin each day with 5-6 periods of activities with their group. Some of these activities include instructional swimming (matches FCA curriculum), computer, tennis, archery, art, drama, crafts, and sports. Older campers are invited to select an afternoon Pathfinder specialty activity in which to participate (Pathfinders will be updated in the Spring). Campers ages 7 to 10 are placed in coed groups according to age; while 11 and 12 year olds are grouped by single gender. All campers are supervised by head and assistant counselors.
